1. Introduction

ZnakQuest ("the App") is a mobile application for collecting and cataloging Russian vehicle license plates as a hobby-style spotting game. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and what your choices are.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

You can use the App in one of three ways:

• Sign in with Google — we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.
• Sign in with Apple — we receive an opaque user identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and email (you can choose to hide your email via Apple's "Hide My Email" feature).
• Anonymous sign-in — no personal data is collected; only an internal random identifier is generated to store your local collection on our servers.

You can also optionally provide a nickname, city, and car model in your profile.

Photos of license plates

The App uses your device camera to photograph vehicle license plates. Before uploading, the App automatically:

• Crops the image strictly to the license plate rectangle — faces, people, vehicles, and surrounding context are never captured;
• Re-encodes the image, which removes all original metadata (EXIF), including GPS geotags, capture timestamps, and device identifiers;
• Downscales and compresses the image to reduce size.

We do not collect or transmit your physical location at any point.

Game data (collection tokens)

The recognized license plate is broken down into game tokens — region code, three-digit number, and three-letter series — and stored in your personal collection. These tokens drive the gameplay (collections, scoring, achievements, leaderboard).

Usage analytics

To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we use AppMetrica, an analytics service provided by Yandex. AppMetrica collects:

• In-app events (e.g., signing in, taking a photo, adding a plate to a collection) and session information;
• Technical device information: device model, OS version, app version, screen parameters, and a non-advertising device identifier;
• Crash and error reports;
• IP address, from which an approximate region may be inferred on the server side.

We have explicitly disabled the collection of advertising identifiers (GAID/IDFA) and GPS location in the analytics SDK. Analytics data is processed on our behalf and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. See the Yandex Privacy Policy for details on how Yandex processes data.

3. How Your Data Is Shared with Other Users

The App contains social features. We want to be explicit about what other users can see:

• Leaderboard: your nickname, avatar, score, and aggregate stats are visible to other users.
• Public profile: other users can view your profile page, which includes your nickname, avatar, city, car model (if you provided them), and your collection statistics.
• Public collections: other users can browse your collected regions, digit combinations, and letter series, including the cropped photos you submitted for each plate.

If you do not wish your data to be visible to other users, do not provide a nickname or profile photo, do not upload plate photos, and use the anonymous sign-in mode.

4. Content Moderation

Because the App displays user-generated content (nicknames, profile fields, and plate photos) to other users, we apply moderation:

• Automated filter blocks profanity and offensive language in nicknames, city, and car fields at the moment they are saved.
• Manual moderation reviews submitted plate photos and crops out any extraneous content, ensuring only the license plate itself remains visible to other users.

5. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the App functionality;
• To manage your personal license plate collection;
• To display leaderboard rankings and public profiles among App users;
• To track achievements and progress;
• To analyze aggregated usage patterns, diagnose crashes, and improve the App.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase services (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage). All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to advertising third parties. The App contains no advertising and no cross-app tracking. The only third-party SDKs used are Google Firebase (backend) and Yandex AppMetrica (usage analytics, described in Section 2), both acting as data processors on our behalf.

7. Permissions

• Camera — required to photograph license plates. Used only when you actively take a photo within the App.
• Photo Library — optional; used only if you choose to pick a photo from your library (e.g., for an avatar).
• Internet — required to sync your collection, authenticate your account, and load leaderboard data.

The App does not request location, contacts, microphone, or any other sensitive permissions.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In-app: Profile tab → "Удалить аккаунт" (Delete account). Deletion is instant.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced within the App.
